Who Is Jeff The Killer? Creepypasta's Evil Villain Explained
In 2019, someone posted an image on 4chan. It simply showed an empty, yellow office. It seemed somehow eerie and lonely. Then other people online started making up their own stories about it. Kane Parsons was one of them. He turned these ideas into an extremely popular YouTube series. This shows once again that the internet is full of creepy stories. These stories are called “creepypastas.” And now, a new one is getting its own movie.
Jeff the Killer is coming to the big screen
There’s a famous story from 2008 called “Jeff the Killer”. It was written by a user named Sessuer. It tells the story of a boy named Jeff who suffers acid burns and subsequently starts doing really creepy things. He tells his victims “Go to sleep” just before he harms them. The character usually has a very pale face and a wide, terrifying smile. He has become a staple of the internet horror scene. Everyone knows that face.
Now, “The Wrap” reports that a filmmaker named Savannah Moss is working on a movie about Jeff. She’s teaming up with a company called Tongal to bring the project to life. She’ll even be involved in the production. Fans are in for a treat, as she’s very knowledgeable about horror movies. In 2025, she directed a horror short film called Funny Bunny. It was about a babysitter who’s worried about a child who loves a stuffed animal way too much. This short film was screened at many cool festivals.
Savannah is also very familiar with Creepypasta. She grew up with it. She told The Wrap that she has a real connection to this story. She has even used the character Jeff in some of her own “Fever Dream” videos. She said: “I grew up with ‘Jeff the Killer’ and all those Creepypasta horror stories, so I definitely have a nostalgic connection to it.”
Will this movie be better than “Slender Man”?
It makes sense that studios want to make more movies like “Backrooms”. But it’s always a gamble. We remember what happened in 2018 with the Slender Man movie. It was based on an internet legend, but it was really bad. Critics hated it, and it received an extremely low rating on Rotten Tomatoes. People found the plot and characters pretty disappointing.
Let’s hope this “Jeff the Killer” movie turns out much better. “Backrooms” has set the bar pretty high for this kind of internet adaptation. The movie proved that if you get the atmosphere right, people will actually come out to see it. Personally, I’m curious to see how they’ll bring the story to life.
