This 1998 classic is making a comeback and looks better than ever. A release date has finally been set: November 5, 2026. The game will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is especially exciting.
ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME REMAKE FINALLY REVEALS RELEASE DATE AND GAMEPLAY
Most agree that “Ocarina of Time” is one of the best games ever made. It was the first 3D game in the series. Back then, it changed everything for the developers. Now it’s getting a full remake for modern consoles.
Following the big announcement, Nintendo has scheduled another event for September 9. We don’t know much about it yet. But it will likely showcase what’s in store for us later this year and through early 2027. In addition, two major games are coming out very soon. “Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave” launches on September 17. “Nintendo Switch Sports Resort” follows on October 22.
RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED FOR THE “ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME” REMAKE
The game will be released on November 5, 2026. Producer Eiji Aonuma has finally shown some actual gameplay footage. They’ve been holding back for a long time since the initial announcement in June. The game preserves the core of the original N64 version. The graphics, however, are completely new. And you know what? There’s finally a jump button!
That’s not all. The game now features full voice acting for the cutscenes. Time also continues to pass when you enter towns. They’ve even added optional motion controls for items like the slingshot. Some players found it difficult to play the Ocarina songs with the old controller. Now you can use the Switch 2’s microphone to hum the songs if you want. There’s also Amiibo support and an improved camera.
The “Zelda Notes” feature also returns. It was already part of the Switch 2 versions of other Zelda games. With a mobile app, you can view your game data. There are even trivia questions. In the app, you can earn rupees and use them in the game—a cool way to stay connected to the game.
Some people were concerned that the remake might be too similar to the original, just like the “Star Fox 64” remake. But this one looks different. The game’s basic structure is the same, but many things have been changed. We’ll just have to wait until November to see if it’s a hit.
Personally, I think this is going to be great. I agree with other fans that a remake of “Majora’s Mask” in this style would also be great. Let’s wait and see!
