Keeper PS5 game Double Fine: The Surprise Release Finally Revealed [Exclusive]
Big news for PlayStation fans today! The atmospheric puzzle-adventure game Keeper PS5 game Double Fine, is now officially available for the console. The announcement during Sony’s latest “State of Play” event came as a complete surprise to everyone. If you’ve been waiting to play this game on your PS5, now’s your chance to get started.
The game was originally released in October 2025 for PC. Since then, it’s only been available on Xbox consoles. That finally changed today. Players take on the role of a walking lighthouse. Your mission is to travel through a colorful world and eradicate a terrifying plague that’s spreading everywhere. You simply use your right analog stick to illuminate your surroundings. This clears infected areas, helps you solve puzzles, and lets you talk to some really cool-looking creatures.
“Keeper” is now available for PS5
When the game first launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC, it was well-received by most critics. It currently holds a solid rating on OpenCritic with a 76% recommendation rate. However, I personally checked it out for my review here on GameRant. I gave it a 6/10 because, although it’s visually very appealing, the puzzles were a bit too easy for my taste. That said, if you love beautiful graphics in your games, you might really enjoy this one.
The regular price for the game on the PlayStation Store is $19.99. But there’s a special offer! If you have a PS Plus membership, you can snag it for $15.99. This discount is valid through September 17. This is a great way to save a few dollars if you’re curious about the game.
Things have been pretty turbulent at the studio lately. Back in July, there were massive layoffs at Xbox, and the decision was made to end the partnership with Double Fine. As a result, the studio is now independent again. It has even regained the rights to the games it previously developed. It was a tough summer for the team, as it also had to cope with its own round of layoffs at the end of July.
Double Fine’s new Kickstarter
Despite all these changes, the team remains hard at work. It has just launched a new Kickstarter campaign called “Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot.” They’re seeking funding for a game jam. They’ve been hosting these jams since 2007. Essentially, it’s a two-week period during which developers create a series of different game prototypes. The best of these often turn into full-fledged games. Well-known examples from the past include “Costume Quest”, “Iron Brigade” and “Stacking”.
If you support this project, you’ll get to vote on which four games from the game jam should be released as full versions. They’re also filming a documentary about it. And check this out—they joked that if they raised $100 million, they’d finally develop a sequel to Brutal Legend. That’s a funny goal, even if it’s probably just a joke.
I still think about the original Psychonauts all the time. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorite games. Let me know in the comments which game from this studio is your favorite! I’m curious to hear what everyone else thinks.
