However, there were difficulties fitting it into Studio Pierrot’s schedule. Additionally, the creator, Yuki Tabata, was determined to bring his original story to a close on his own terms. Now that these hurdles have been overcome, fans once again have the opportunity to see why Asta is such a great hero.
Asta was born without any magical powers in a world where magic is everything. He was determined to become the Wizard King, but everyone in his village thought he was crazy. Even when he finally got his grimoire, he had to train extremely hard just to make his anti-magic work for him. He never received a “gift from the goddess” or any special shortcut. He isn’t the typical “chosen one” you see in every other series. That’s what really sets him apart as a great character.
Viewers of the series notice how hard Asta works. Even the characters in the story see this. We actually had the opportunity to speak with Gakuto Kajiwara at Anime Expo 2026. He is the voice of Asta and has been voicing him for nearly ten years. We wanted to know what he thinks about portraying the character for so long. Now that the manga and the companion books have concluded, the return of the boy from Hage is finally here. Kajiwara clearly loves Asta, and it’s easy to see why fans feel the same way.
THE VOICE OF ASTA IN “BLACK CLOVER MANGA” FINDS STRENGTH IN THE ROLE
Voice actors often develop a strong bond with their major roles. This happens all the time. Some of them feel a deep emotional connection to their characters, especially when they go through difficult times together. Gakuto Kajiwara said his connection to Asta is very positive. It actually helps him stay grounded when things get tough in his own life.
Kajiwara told us: “As far as I’m concerned, one of the qualities I can take away from Asta is his perseverance. Personally, I don’t have a heart as strong as his, and often, when I feel like giving up, Asta comes to mind. I remember his character and personality, which are defined by the fact that he simply never gives up, and I feel like he’s encouraged me and really given me a lot of strength in my personal life. That’s why he’s so special to me.”
It’s no surprise that Asta’s energy rubs off on the actor. Dallas Reid, Asta’s English voice actor, has already mentioned that returning to this role can be intimidating. For Kajiwara, however, the most important realization is that Asta drives him forward. He says his own will isn’t as strong as Asta’s. Fans already got a glimpse of this during the Season 2 screening at Anime Expo. It looks like Kajiwara is ready to guide Asta through the best part of the series yet.

It wasn’t always easy for creator Tabata. He had to move the series to a quarterly magazine called “Jump GIGA” so he could take care of his health, his family, and his work-life balance. Nevertheless, the “Black Clover manga” ended on a high note and is now making a spectacular return to the anime world.
The second season looks truly promising thanks to Studio Pierrot’s adaptation. The studio had to wait a while because it was busy with four seasons of “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.” It’s not the only studio that had to wait. “Boruto” fans are also waiting and hoping to experience their big moment soon, just as “Black Clover” fans are waiting to see the “Omnipotence Arc.”
