Harry Potter Star Recast After Just 13 Days
Big changes are on the horizon for the new “Harry Potter” series on HBO. You may have already heard that harry potter nicholas hoult replaced harington in the role of Gilderoy Lockhart, but that story has already taken a new turn. As it turns out, Nicholas Hoult is leaving the project after only 13 days on set. While this comes as a bit of a shock, it has actually turned out to be a stroke of luck for the casting department.
KIT HARINGTON RETURNS TO HARRY POTTER
So who’s taking over the role? None other than Kit Harington! You probably know him from his legendary time on Game of Thrones. He’s a huge fan of the wizarding world. Even though he didn’t appear in the original eight films, he actually lent his voice to Gilderoy Lockhart in the most recent audiobooks. He already knows the character inside and out.
The main reason for this change is scheduling conflicts. Nicholas Hoult is fully occupied with filming the new Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow. It looks like filming for the new Harry Potter series will begin a little earlier than originally anticipated. Instead of trying to adjust the schedule, HBO decided to cast Kit Harington. According to reports, he was very excited to step in.
Kit Harington has repeatedly made it clear just how much he loves the story. In a video for the audiobook project, he said, “I read it and, like so many generations before me, was completely captivated—and then I was a huge fan throughout my teenage years.”
Gilderoy Lockhart is a funny, chaotic character. He’s the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but at heart, he’s just a con artist who loves the spotlight. While recording the audio for the audiobook, Harington joked about it. He said, “I think there’s a little bit of Gilderoy Lockhart in all of us.”
NICHOLAS HOULT HAD PREVIOUSLY TRIED TO BECOME PART OF THE HARRY POTTER SERIES
It’s worth noting that Nicholas Hoult had actually wanted to be part of the Potter universe for a long time. He admitted that he had auditioned for various roles during the filming of the first movies, including Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. He even talked about it on the show “Hot Ones”.
He told the host that he had once auditioned for director Chris Columbus. He didn’t get the part and joked that he had eventually become too old for the roles. Even though he won’t be playing the famous wizard this time around, there will be plenty of other roles to fill in the series over the next five seasons. Maybe he’ll get another chance later!
