Marvel is gearing up for a spooky October with a new comic book series, and we’ve just gotten a sneak peek at the upcoming issue of “Marvel Midnight Issue 3. Starting October 7, 2026, these three new issues will be the only ones Marvel releases that day. The idea behind this is to have some of the best writers put famous heroes in truly creepy, strange situations. It’s a bold move, and honestly, the cover artwork looks super creepy.
The new illustrations show us some pretty crazy things. We see Peter Parker undergoing a truly disgusting transformation. We also get a glimpse of Reed Richards and his insatiable desire to learn new things—even if it means everything goes wrong. We also get a glimpse of the X-Men, where Cyclops is trying to help a new mutant while a terrifying battle between humans and mutants rages in the shadows. It looks like Oscorp is also conducting some truly outlandish scientific experiments.
“MIDNIGHT FANTASTIC FOUR” WILL BE A NEW ORIGIN STORY IN WHICH MARVEL’S FIRST FAMILY BATTLES THROUGH A COSMIC NIGHTMARE
Marvel has released the official synopsis for the Fantastic Four’s new, spine-chilling story. The team travels to a desert in New Mexico, where the first atomic bomb was tested. There, due to a rift in space, they discover something from another world. This won’t end well for them.
Writer Percy told a news site that this is a brand-new origin story. “Reed doesn’t know Sue, Johnny, or Ben,” he explained. He said that as their stories intertwine, a different kind of family forms—one that’s much more toxic and complicated. He believes that now that their past and future have changed, fans will experience the “Fantastic Four” in a completely new way through the lens of cosmic horror.
Marvel makes one thing very clear: These aren’t your typical, cheerful superhero stories. Things are going to get very dark, and if you like horror, you’ll probably love October. Even though it’s scary, they’re keeping some of the aspects we know from Reed Richards. He’s still obsessed with learning everything—even if what he learns is far too big for him to handle.
“MIDNIGHT SPIDER-MAN” REVOLVES AROUND THE ICONIC SPIDER ON PETER’S CHEST—WITH A BODY-HORROR TWIST
The new Spider-Man story won’t be easy for Peter Parker. According to Marvel, Peter is trying to find a way to be human again while Oscorp is hunting him down. Meanwhile, Doctor Octavius is using what he’s learned from Peter to create a new, living horror in his secret lab that could make Spider-Man look like a joke.
Writer Johnson spoke with IGN about this. He said he didn’t want to reveal what the spider on Peter’s chest is or what it’s doing to him. He wants readers to speculate and come up with theories. He mentioned that the body horror elements become increasingly extreme as the issues progress. “We hope that when our readers get to Issue #3, they’ll have a hard time imagining how things could possibly get any further from there,” he said. He really wants readers to be on edge while they wait for the next volume.
Marvel has unveiled some concept art for this new version of Spidey, and it looks pretty wild. It’s definitely strange, but at its core, it’s still a Spider-Man story. Readers can expect Peter to have to use his terrifying new body to stop Oscorp once and for all.
“MIDNIGHT X-MEN” AIMS TO EXPLORE DEEPER THEMES WITH ITS HORROR APPROACH
The official synopsis for this X-Men story is intense. It depicts a merciless world, full of strange weapons and sins. It sounds as if New York City is being overrun by vampires and battles between mutants. Looking at the details for the third issue, it seems this story will tackle much deeper themes than we’re used to seeing with the X-Men.
Horror is a great way for writers to reveal new sides of characters we already know. This way, the story stays true to the heroes’ essence while placing them in a far more interesting situation. These comics sound super creepy and really cool at the same time. The first issues of all these series will be available starting October 7.
