This character onslaught back to the comics of the early ’90s. Marvel just officially announced it in a new update. For fans, this is a huge deal.
Onslaught is officially becoming part of the game Marvel: Crisis Protocol. He’ll play a key role on the tabletop battlefield of Atomic Mass Games. In case you don’t remember: He first appeared during that epic comic book storyline from 1996. The crazy thing about his origin story is that he emerged from the darkest sides of Professor X and Magneto. This happened after Xavier used his psychic powers to shut down Magneto’s mind.
Afterward, this strange psychic entity took control of Xavier. He became powerful enough to threaten the X-Men and just about every other hero in the Marvel Universe. Marvel has revived him several times over the years. That’s why everyone knows he’s a major psychic threat that you definitely shouldn’t mess with.
The new Onslaught figure is massive. He is an “8-Threat, Size 5” character. He can teleport across large sections of the game board, which is absolutely insane. He can also hurl terrain at enemies, reposition his foes, and lead his own group called “Onslaught’s Grip.” He becomes even more powerful when one of his allies is stunned or incapacitated. On top of that, he has Team Tactics cards that make him even better at moving, controlling the battlefield, and attacking.
The “Onslaught” Character Pack will cost $49.99. You can pre-order it now. It officially launches on September 25, 2026. The box also includes several special Crisis cards. You can use these to play your own campaign or simply incorporate them into your regular games.
If you haven’t played Marvel: Crisis Protocol yet: It’s basically a game where you assemble your own teams of heroes and villains. You then battle your way through missions, using each character’s unique powers. It’s really fun to customize your team. Bringing someone like Onslaught into the game will be a great surprise for longtime players and for anyone who simply loves X-Men stories.
