Marvel Officially Changes Gambit Forever
Gambit has really been through a lot lately in the latest Uncanny X-Men comics. Things went downhill for Remy LeBeau after he made a huge mistake. He stole the Left Eye of Agamotto from a dragon named Sadurang. That was not a good idea. The artifact brought about some truly dire consequences. Because of the Eye, a terrifying entity named Wyvern began to grow inside Gambit. As Gail Simone’s story unfolded, things got worse and worse for him. Eventually, he actually transformed into this monster. Wings and a tail grew on him, and the entity began to take control of him.
Rogue is his wife, and she wasn’t going to just stand by and watch him disappear. She loves him. In Uncanny X-Men issue 33, the two of them left Haven House. They set out in search of a certain Gabriel, the demon hunter. They hoped this guy knew how to solve supernatural problems. They wanted him to remove Wyvern from Gambit’s mind and make him normal again. Marvel hinted that the cure might be far worse than the actual problem. It was also mentioned that a mysterious person named Repent would be coming. It turned out that this was by no means a joke.
What are the big movie releases of 2026?
I have a few spoilers for “Uncanny X-Men” Issue 34. You should know that getting rid of Wyvern wasn’t enough to bring back the old Gambit. Repent showed up and helped in the fight against the entity that had taken possession of Remy’s body. They managed to break the spell, but the damage had already been done. Gambit didn’t revert to his human form. Instead, he continued to look like a demon. He now has gray skin, horns, large wings, a long tail, and claws instead of hands. That’s really wild.
That’s the scary part. Gambit realized that this is no longer just an external spirit playing a trick on him. He told Rogue that he can now actually feel the changes taking place inside him. It sounds as though his encounter with the Wyvern has altered his biology forever. Rogue is desperate to find a way to set him right again. She wants her husband back. But Gambit isn’t ready for that yet. He believes he needs to step back to figure out who—or what—he is now.
Rogue isn’t going to just let him go off on his own. She stays by his side. The two of them are now on their way to Barcelona. They’re looking for Nightcrawler. Marvel isn’t pretending this is just a temporary change that will disappear in the next issue either. The preview for Uncanny X-Men Issue 35 states that an X-Man is facing a “terrifying transformation.” Time and again, we’re warned that the cure could be worse than the disease. So even though Wyvern is gone, Remy LeBeau is definitely not quite back to his old self yet. It’ll be really exciting to see what this means for one of the coolest mutants in the X-Men universe.
