“One Piece Day 2026” just wrapped up, and honestly, it was a huge event. There were tons of cool things for fans to check out, including who everyone voted as the most popular character—spoiler: it’s Luffy! But the coolest part definitely came at the very end. The team has finally announced that an official One Piece God Valley movie will be released in 2027. This is great news for all of us who love the series.
However, that wasn’t the only announcement. In addition to this big movie news, they also confirmed another project in One Piece Film BAAD, which is set to be released a little later in 2029. We don’t yet know all the details, such as the full list of cast members or the exact release date for the “God Valley” movie. However, the team announced that we’ll learn more soon—perhaps at New York Comic Con or at Jump Festa this December.
ONE PIECE DAY 26 OFFICIALLY CONFIRMS THE “GOD VALLEY” MOVIE FOR 2027
August 23, 2026, will be a day fans will remember for a long time to come. It’s not every day that two movie announcements are made at once. The “God Valley” movie will be a direct sequel to the anime, which is currently covering the first part of the Elbaf Arc. The anime will wrap up its current 26-episode season in September of this year.
It will continue next year, and we’re all eagerly awaiting this Loki flashback. This flashback is of great significance, as it covers the “God Valley” incident and the story of Rocks D. Xebec, a super-powerful pirate from a time long before Roger’s era. Shueisha and Toei Animation have confirmed that this story will be adapted into an anime.
The “God Valley” Story
If you’ve read the manga, you know that this part of the story began back in Chapter 1159. It was all about setting the stage for the big battle. That chapter was released on September 8, 2025. The entire storyline spanned eight chapters and concluded on November 24, 2025, with Chapter 1166. Since it’s only eight chapters, the movie will be packed with action—without a single moment to catch your breath. We’re already super excited about it. A short teaser video was even posted on YouTube, though it didn’t contain any actual animation yet. That usually means they’re just getting started, but we know the project is in good hands.
“GOD VALLEY” IS THE FIRST CANONICAL “ONE PIECE” MOVIE
That’s kind of funny, because there usually aren’t any canonical movies in “One Piece.” Normally, Eiichiro Oda writes the story for the manga, and the anime follows it. But things are changing. After the movie “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” was so well-received, the entire anime world has shifted. Now, major series want to make canonical movies instead of just side stories. “Chainsaw Man” did this in 2025 with the “Reze Arc,” and it worked out great. Now “One Piece” is jumping on this trend as well. If this movie is well-received, we’ll likely see many more of them in the future.
EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THE “ONE PIECE” MOVIE “GOD VALLEY”
To be honest, we don’t know much more than that at the moment. We know it’s set to be released in 2027, but that’s about it. We’re not sure exactly which chapters will be covered. Since the title refers only to “God Valley” and not specifically to “Rocks,” the anime will likely have to include a few more flashbacks to Loki before the movie hits theaters. This means the anime is expected to return in the spring of 2027, and the movie will likely be released in the summer.
Toei Animation has informed us that more news will follow very soon. We’re dying to know if Oda is involved, because he has to be there to make sure everything is right. He could add further details to the war that were left out of the manga. That would be so cool. The best part will definitely be the battle between Rocks D. Xebec, Garp, and Roger. Everyone is hoping for a great director to take the helm here. Maybe someone like Megumi Ishitani or Shishido. We’ll have to wait and see what the studio decides.
ONE PIECE FILM BAAD COMING IN 2029
There’s also this other movie called “Film BAAD,” which is set to be released in 2029. We have no idea what it’s about. The name gives us absolutely no clues. We don’t even know if it’s a canonical story or just a regular movie. But 2029 marks the anime’s 30th anniversary, so there’s going to be a huge celebration. We’ll have to be patient for a long time, but it’ll be worth the wait. 2027 is going to be a great year.
