ONE PIECE CHAPTER 1191 REVEALS IMU’S ENHANCED DEVIL FRUIT TRANSFORMATION
The latest chapter picks up exactly where the last one left off. Imu was fighting Scopper Gaban, and let me tell you: it was a tough battle. Even though Gaban is older and was already injured, he really gave Imu a hard time. Gaban used his incredible Haki and his axe to land a heavy blow called “Kamudo.” This attack left Imu bleeding quite heavily! Then Gaban followed up with another attack called “Yachitakeru.” This one was significantly stronger than the version he’d previously used against Luffy in this story arc.
Gaban also poked some good-natured fun at the whole thing. He shouted, “Sorry, Jewel Tree Adam! I didn’t mean to eat you! Damn these creaky joints!! It really sucks getting old! Gate of God!!” This “Yachitakeru” attack was so powerful that it actually severed a part of the Adam Tree. It plummeted into the underworld of Elbaf, smashing through several mountains along the way. That’s why people call Gaban the “Mountain Eater.” Because of that hit, Imu had to use his new transformation. He’s stronger now, but he might not be able to maintain this form for very long, since it’s likely draining a lot of his energy.
Even though they’re enemies, Imu showed some respect. He said to Gaban, “Even though you’re old, you’re still part of the Pirate King’s crew!” It was a cool moment between two very powerful guys.
WHY IMU NEW TRANSFORMATION COULD BE THE AWAKENED AKUMA NO MI
We don’t really know the official category of Imu’s Devil Fruit yet. Oda simply calls it the “Devil Fruit.” It doesn’t follow the usual rules we’re familiar with from other fruits. It behaves a bit like a Zoan fruit, since he can change his form. Many fans believe that this new appearance is actually his awakened form. That would make it his most powerful state.
Kaido once said, “Awakening occurs when the mind and body keep pace with one’s own abilities. And those are undoubtedly absurd powers!” That’s likely exactly what’s happening here. It’s as if Imu has finally activated his version of “Gear 5.” Everything he’s done up until now was just fooling around. Now he’s getting serious. And we know that Eiichiro Oda is taking a break after this chapter—which is typical for him—but that makes waiting for more action even harder.
It’s crazy when you think about it, because Imu has already won every fight he’s entered. The fact that he had to change his form just to deal with Gaban shows that the former pirate is still a legend. It also means that Imu will be even harder to defeat from now on.
NERONA IMU IS OFFICIALLY THE STRONGEST IN ALL OF ONE PIECE
Ever since Imu arrived on Elbaf in April, he has proven time and again that he’s the top dog. He’s utterly destroyed Zoro, Hajrudin, and Sanji as if they were nothing. He even toyed with Loki before taking him out with his Sword of Hatred. Even when Luffy tried to fight him with all his might, Imu won effortlessly. It’s pretty clear that Imu is currently the strongest on the island. Defeating him seems impossible.
The Straw Hats’ goal isn’t necessarily to kill him, but simply to drive him off the island. Much of this task falls to Zoro and Sanji. Imu has actually already mentioned that he grows weaker when people connected to his powers die. If the Straw Hats manage to defeat the Holy Knights, they might be able to weaken Imu. We also know that his body isn’t accustomed to the outside world, so he can’t stay there forever. If they can just keep him at bay long enough, they might still have a chance at victory.
